Student Health and Wellbeing Unit

The Student Health and Wellbeing Unit provides confidential one-to-one support and advice for students at RCSI Bahrain. The service is led by professionals from a health care background and is here to help students reach their full potential and overcome any challenges that they may meet in their time at RCSI Bahrain. 
The Student Health and Wellbeing Team (SH&WT) consists of the Student Welfare Officer, Occupational Health Officer and the Student Health & Wellbeing Coordinator. 

Our aim is to: 

  • Provide a compassionate, inclusive and student centered service. 
  • Provide advice and support on health related matters. 
  • Coordinates Infectious Disease Screening and Immunization of all new students at local Ministry of Health approved facilities. 
  • Support students with disabilities in line with the Reasonable Accommodation policy 
  • Offer confidential in-house counselling and referral to external counselling services. 
  • Provides a number of health and wellbeing initiatives throughout the academic year to promote optimal physical health and positive mental health among students. 
  • Provides a workshop as part of the Pathway Program on ‘Self-Care for Success’ for all new students. 

RCSI Bahrain Counselling Services

RCSI Bahrain offers an in-house counselling service and a professional independent external counselling service, which is available to all students free of charge. Our external counselling service includes clinical psychologists, psychiatrists, life coaches and dieticians all of whom offer a professional and confidential service To access external support the student will first meet with a member of the SH&WT for an initial assessment to identify their support needs, the student will then be referred to one of our external professionals based on what best suits their needs. Each student is entitled to 10 external counselling referrals per academic year.

Student Health and Wellbeing – Health Management

To ensure the health, safety and wellbeing of our students the university has a comprehensive support and health management plan in place for students. This includes various protocols are in place which ensure health and wellbeing support. 

Covid-19 Vaccination

All students must be fully vaccinated against Covid-19 prior to the start of the academic year. This is a requirement of our teaching hospitals, which all students will attend as they enter clinical years.  

Health Insurnce for Intenational students

All international students must have medical insurance cover. The university provides a group medical insurance scheme at a very competitive rate. You will be invited to join this scheme, or provide us with a copy of your existing insurance cover. This is to ensure that international students receive the best medical attention whilst in Bahrain.
