Medical Screening & Health Report

Following regulations and guidance of the Ministry of Health, Kingdom of Bahrain, and according to RCSI Bahrain policies on General Health, Infectious Diseases Screening and Vaccination of RCSI Bahrain Students and Blood Borne Viruses, all undergraduate students (new applicants and those who are registered) are required to submit evidence of infectious diseases screening and immunization.  Further to Higher Education Council (HEC) requirements, students must be confirmed fit to study.

Summary of infectious disease screening requirements for new students

  • Applicants: Initial screening requirements (Before Arrival in Bahrain)

The Infectious Disease Screening and Immunization Report must be completed in English by a licensed healthcare provider before registration/arrival in Bahrain. You will not be able to complete registration without approval of your health documents.  Infectious disease screening and vaccination should be started once a student receives their offer letter. All parts of this form are to be completed by a licensed healthcare provider.

  • After Registration: Rescreening requirements

Students who have not completed their initial screening (Medical and blood tests- the top section of the form) at either an NHRA healthcare centre in Bahrain, or a Ministry of Health government healthcare facility in a GCC country will require rescreening within 6 weeks after registration.  Vaccinations can be taken in any country. Rescreening requirements will be communicated to students by the Student Health and Wellbeing team.

Note: Non-compliance with the requirements of the RCSI Bahrain medical screening and vaccination programme is in breach of the RCSI Bahrain Student Code of Conduct and can result in referral through the University’s disciplinary process.

Provide details of your current country of residence and upload copies of any additional residency permits via the registration link.

Pay the visa fee and upload the payment receipt.

Key Requirements

USD 514 (non-refundable).

– Multiple-Entry Visa Cancellation Fee: An additional USD 29 may apply, depending on the specific circumstances during the process.
– Late Visa Issuance: For students whose visas are not issued in time for the semester’s start, the total student visa fee will be USD 1,176 (excluding visit visa fees/extensions charged separately)

We accept payment via bank transfer & BHD cheque. Cheques can be addressed to “RCSI BAHRAIN”

For cash and cheque payments you may do so by visiting any of the Standard Chartered Bank Branches and deposit the same into our bank account below.

For bank transfers please find our bank details below.

The student visa can take up to two months or longer to process, depending on the nationality of the applicant and other factors. You should submit the above documents at the earliest possible once you confirm your offer.

The Student Services team will start submitting visa applications to immigration to ensure the visas are valid in time for the student’s arrival to Bahrain.
Visa applications submitted less than two months in advance might not be approved on time and will be subject to a different process and additional fees.

Should the student visa not be processed in time for the start of the academic year, applicants who need to enter Bahrain without a pre-approved student visa, must follow below steps and will bear additional charges outlined below:

  1. You must contact Student Services to apply for a visit visa sponsored by RCSI Bahrain.
  2. Please note that as part of the new student visa process, you cannot enter Bahrain through self-applying for a visit visa or obtaining an on-arrival visa. While this type of visas may grant you entry into the country, it can no longer be transferred to a student visa at a later point. Students who do abide by this process, will have to leave the country and re-enter using an RCSI Bahrain sponsored visit visa.
  3. Upon entering Bahrain, Student Services will assist you in applying for the student visa. Kindly note that all expenses related to visit visa and extensions during the visa application processing period will be covered by the student.
  4. The student visa fee under this process is USD 1176 Additionally, a visit visa and extensions carry additional charges to the individual applicant – on top of the student visa fees – and are dependent on the applicant’s nationality.

For further assistance or inquiries, please contact Student Services directly on  +973 16660201/200.

You can track your visa application with the University by using the reference number which you will receive upon completing the registration in the mentioned link.

You will not be able to enter Bahrain without a copy of your documents being sent to the immigration authorities at the airport.  Please make sure that you attach the documents in the (link) otherwise you might be held up at the airport and we will not be able to provide immediate solutions.

After your arrival, you should email the student services office to book an appointment to finalise your visa arrangements
Despite having your visa approved, the NOC is a temporary document that allows you to enter the country and pass through immigration only once. In order to get your full student visa finalised, you need to do the following:

1. Confirm your permanent address in Bahrain:
The student services office will assist you in finding suitable accommodation by providing you a list of accommodation options. Once you have found an apartment and signed a lease contract, you will have to get a ‘proof of address letter’ from the municipality office. The Student Services team will provide you with further details and instructions on how to get this letter when you visit their office.

2. Apply for a Smart Card (Bahraini National ID)
In essence, the Smart Card is an identification card, which is used to verify the holders’ identity.Personal details such as name, date of birth and nationality are printed on the card and additional information is stored on a chip on the card such as address, place of study, etc. Every Citizen and resident in Bahrain is issued with this card. The Smart Card allows you to:

  • Open a bank account
  • Register your home electricity bill
  • Register a mobile account
  • Visit and be treated at public medical centres for a nominal fee
  • The cost of the Smart card is included in the visa cost.

The Student Services team will organise for you to attend an appointment at the government office to obtain your smart card, however this cannot be organised until you have a place of residence in Bahrain.

3. Once you’ve been on your smart card appointment, the student visa process should be finalised and you should be getting back:

  • Your passport with the Multiple Re-entry Visa.
  • Your Smart Card

External Apartments

We are also lucky that we have a wide range of apartment blocks perfectly suited to students and student life within walking distance of the main gates of the campus, understandably, this is where we would encourage students to stay.

A basic list of some of the apartment blocks in the nearby area is available below for your information. Of course, there are plenty of other residential areas that might also be suitable, depending on your budget and transport situation.

We know it’s not easy to arrange accommodation when you’re not in the country but there is certainly no shortage of space so don’t worry While many students have successfully arranged accommodation from abroad, many others wait until they arrive to do so, so that will be up to you.

Disclaimer: The properties listed, including the owners/advertisers of same, are not inspected or vetted by RCSI Bahrain. The accommodation list is aimed at putting students in contact with individuals/bodies offering accommodation. As the University does not inspect/vet these properties or their owners/advertisers, and in the absence of any legal or binding agreement between said owners/advertisers and RCSI Bahrain, the University cannot be held liable for any accommodation, contacts, contracts, introductions and/or arrangements arising from the use of this list.

Hotel Accommodation

We appreciate that some families may prefer to view accommodation options in person before committing to a longer-term arrangement. In these cases, temporary accommodation close to campus can be a practical option.

It may be suitable for:

  • parents and family members visiting Bahrain;
  • students seeking temporary accommodation while finalising a longer-term option; and
  • GCC students who do not require a student visa or Bahrain Smart Card (CPR) for their residency arrangements.

Important Information for Students Requiring a CPR

Students who require a student visa and Bahrain Smart Card (CPR) should note that hotel apartment accommodation may not provide the residential address documentation needed to complete the CPR process.

For this reason, Majestic Arjaan Rotana may be used as a temporary accommodation option, but it should not be relied upon as a long-term solution for students who need an eligible residential address for their CPR registration.

Students in this category should ensure that their longer-term accommodation arrangements meet the requirements of the visa and CPR process.

ACCOMMODATION SHARING

Obviously, it would be more cost-effective to share accommodation with fellow students so here is a link to the room-mate registration form if you think that is something you would be interested in doing.

Please note that except for the Halls of Residence, the University will not match students together but invites them to contact one another.

Please download our Roommate guide for guidelines on sharing accommodation.

Learning Communities Survey – For MED YEAR 1 (5 year programme) students only

In preparation for Year 1, we would like to provide you with the option to be grouped with one other student whom you may know.
As you may already know, for the Year 1 Medicine programme, students will be grouped into 4 Learning Communities.  Each Learning Community will have a total of 4 sub groups and its in these subgroups, you will live your RCSI journey.

Please complete the this form, if you would like to be grouped with 1 x other student for Year 1.
Please note that groups will be auto assigned across the 4 x Year 1 learning communities, so if you do not wish to be grouped with a particular friend or family member, you are not required to complete this form.

Unfortunately, we are only able to facilitate one grouping request per student. (Unfortunately we are unable to consider requests for larger groupings).

We would kindly ask that 1 x representative submit this request on behalf of both students to be grouped together.  So we would be grateful if you can work together to facilitate this.

This form will close on Thursday 3rd September 2026.  (Any requests past this deadline will not be accepted).
